How are Intel Xeon 6 processors priced by the tray?
Xeon 6 tray pricing is quoted per order by processor number and count, with a firm per-unit figure and a stated validity within one business day.
Xeon 6 tray processors are priced per order. The processor number, the count and the date of the quote set the figure, because server CPU prices in distribution move with the market. A quote comes back within one business day with a firm per-unit figure and a stated validity.
Tray against boxed
Intel sells tray processors in bulk to OEMs for system integration. They come in bulk tray packaging, with no retail box and usually no thermal solution. Intel states there are no functional differences between tray and boxed processors with the same processor number.
Intel directs warranty on tray processors to the OEM or the place of purchase.
The Xeon 6 family
Intel builds Xeon 6 with two core types. P-core processors reach up to 128 cores per socket for compute-intensive work. E-core processors reach up to 288 cores per socket for high-density, scale-out work.
- 6900 series. Intel's platform for cloud, HPC and AI, with more memory channels, more I/O lanes and higher thermal design points.
- 6700 and 6500 series. The platform for cost- and power-efficient data centers, in one-socket to eight-socket configurations.
- 6300 series. Entry-level servers.
Lenovo's ThinkSystem SR650 V4, for example, takes one or two processors from the 6700P and 6500P series.
Intel lists DDR5-6400 memory, up to 12 memory channels per socket, MRDIMM at up to 8,800 MT/s on P-core processors and up to 192 PCIe 5.0 lanes in a two-socket server. Intel AMX on P-cores speeds up inferencing for INT8 and BF16.
What a volume CPU quote states
- The processor number and the count
- A firm per-unit figure and the line total
- The lead time for the line
- The period the quote holds
- Payment terms that vary by account, with flexible options offered for approved purchasers
Lines the distributor sells as non-cancelable and non-returnable carry the same terms to you. The quote marks them. Buying a cluster's processors as one line keeps every node on the same processor number.
How to buy it through Gatewell USA
Gatewell USA is an Intel Partner Alliance Partner in the Solution Integrator role. Send the processor numbers and counts on the quote form with the unit set to tray. Processors are bought from authorized US distribution against your order.
