Where do I buy used data center power and cooling equipment?

Gatewell USA brokers used data center power and cooling equipment between named commercial sellers and buyers. Every unit is quoted with its nameplate record and test reports. Los Angeles, California.

We hold no yard and no stock. A buyer sends a requirement. A seller sends a unit with its record. We match named sellers to named buyers. The deal form is put in writing before any introduction is made.

What we broker, and who it is for

The classes we handle, all used and coming out of data center refreshes, closures and decommissioning:

Buyers are commercial. A requirement states the class, the rating, the voltage, the fuel or refrigerant, the delivery state and the date needed. That is enough to start looking.

Sellers are commercial. A unit comes to us with nameplate photographs, hours, service history, location and the date it is available. More on that on the page for selling decommissioned equipment.

The two deal forms

Every deal runs in one of two forms. In the first, we work as an agent under a written commission agreement. In the second, we are the seller of record on a back-to-back sale funded by the buyer's deposit.

Which form applies is stated in writing before any introduction is made.

The condition record

A quote carries the record for the class of equipment it covers.

Generator sets: nameplate and emissions label photographs, hour meter photograph, service log, load bank test report.

UPS systems: condition and run-time report, battery date codes, load bank test.

Switchgear and breakers: acceptance test report to ANSI/NETA standards.

Transformers: nameplate photograph, oil analysis, turns ratio test, and a laboratory PCB result for older oil-filled units.

Cooling equipment: refrigerant type from the nameplate and the recovery record of an EPA Section 608 certified technician.

Two placement facts sit alongside that record. California air districts set their own permitting for stationary diesel engines, so a generator set is matched to the rules of the district where it will run before it is quoted. Refrigerant is recovered by a certified technician before a unit is disconnected.

De-installation, rigging and freight are quoted line by line with the unit. Licensed contractors perform that work. We do not perform it ourselves.

Do you hold stock?

No. We hold no yard and no stock. A unit is quoted from the record of the unit itself, held by the seller who owns it.

Are you the seller or the agent?

One or the other, decided per deal. We work as an agent under a written commission agreement, or as the seller of record on a back-to-back sale funded by the buyer's deposit. You are told which one applies in writing before any introduction is made.

What do you need from me to start?

From a buyer: class, rating, voltage, fuel or refrigerant, delivery state, date needed. From a seller: nameplate photographs, hours, service history, location, date available. Both go through the equipment form.

Is the equipment new or used?

Used. It comes out of data center refreshes, closures and decommissioning.

Who takes the unit out and moves it?

Licensed contractors. De-installation, rigging and freight are quoted line by line with the unit. We do not perform that work ourselves.

Where does the equipment go?

Wherever the buyer needs it and the sale is lawful. The delivery destination is one of the fields on the requirement, so name it when you send it. An export follows the same buyer verification and export filing as any export we handle.
